The merchandising surge will be in 2011 run-up to the Games, according to London 2012 organizers who are using it to help raise £2 billion towards staging the Games.

Mascots Wenlock and Mandeville make leading appearances as toys and on keyrings, together with other Olympic Souvenirs, posters and stationery.

There is also a London 2012 Hornby train set – celebrating Olympic sports on one side of the train and Paralympic sports on the other.

Next, the high street fashion chain, has released its first clothing collection including limited edition T-shirts, each individually numbered from 1 to 2,012.

This will be followed later in the year with their second collection, a vintage range inspired by imagery from previous Olympic Games, such as London 1948.  London Olympic posters also come vintage with retro pictures of London and previous Olympic games.

Sports giant Adidas, a London 2012 sponsor, has released a sportswear range entitled 26, inspired by the 26 Olympic sports

Cycling is the first ”26” collection with basketball to follow in the autumn. Four-time Olympic gold medal winner Sir Chris Hoy wore a ”26” cycling outfit as he became the first person to cycle inside the Olympic velodrome this week.

The Royal Mint’s second £5 countdown coin – among a series being launched annually from 2009 until 2012, and available in gold, silver and cupro-nickel – is also on offer.
